WI Communities Deal With Inflation, High Gas Prices

Communities across Wisconsin have been having to deal with fitting the rising price of gas inside municipal budgets.

Marathon County administrator Lance Leonhard says one department that hasn’t had an issue this summer is the highway department.

“Because they purchase fuel in bulk through RFP every other year, we’re able to lock in a fuel rate that I think you and I would be very happy to lock in.”

Leonhard says at this time there’s no one department that’s in danger of going so far over budget that they would need some sort of emergency funding, but he is keeping an eye on the situation.

Gas prices topped out at nearly 5 dollars a gallon in the Wausau area in June.
