WI DOT To Host Virtual Meeting Regarding Hwy. 23 Project In Sheboygan County

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region has announced a virtual public involvement meeting will be held Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss proposed improvements on WIS 23 in the towns of Plymouth and Sheboygan Falls, village of Kohler and city of Sheboygan in Sheboygan County.

Public comments are encouraged as they are important to the DOT to obtain input that will assist the department in the further development and refinement of a final design.

Project engineers and staff will provide a short presentation, show proposed improvements, discuss schedule and traffic impacts, and provide an overview of possible real estate needs. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.

WIS 23 proposed improvements include repairing pavement, mill and overlay, reconstruction of intersections at WIS 23/Sunset Road and WIS 23/County TT, replace beam guard and install pavement markings. Construction is anticipated to occur in 2028 with a possibility of a 2026 advancement date.

Hwy. 23 would remain open throughout the majority of construction using a single lane closure. Temporary lane closures and access restrictions will occur on Sunset Road and County TT during reconstruction. Access will be maintained for all residents and businesses.
