WI State Trooper Loses Battle To Covid

He had been awarded the “Lifesaving Award” along with two other troopers, for their efforts to save two occupants trapped inside a vehicle that had crashed and traveled into a drainage ditch.

Water had risen to the driver’s side window and the two occupants were not able to escape. The three troopers worked together to get the occupants to safety. That award was presented on February 12, 2020.

Now, almost two years later, Trooper Dan Stainbrook lost his battle with COVID-19.

The Wisconsin State Troopers Association took to social media, to say 42-year old Trooper Stainbrook passed away Monday after a battle with COVID-19.

Stainbrook had been hospitalized in Wisconsin Rapids since October 27. He leaves behind a wife and two daughters. A GoFundMe page has been started to assist the family.

Steinbrook was a 20-year veteran working primarily in Waushara County, and served as an instructor for sworn personnel across the division.
