WI Tops 4,200 Positive COVID Tests On Wednesday

Wisconsin set another single day record for COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday. The state Department of Health Services reported 48 deaths due to coronavirus. There were 4,205 new cases of COVID-19 reported, as DHS continued to work through a backlog of data from a weekend outage of its reporting system. In addition, the first patient has been admitted to the alternate field hospital at State Fair Park. COVID-19 patients who are less sick but still require things like oxygen therapy, additional rest or medication will be treated there before being discharged.

Wisconsin’s status with COVID-19 is much worse than in the early days of the pandemic here, according to Department of Health Services Secretary designee Andrea Palm

“So now is the time for all of us to double down and do our part. Please stay home. Get groceries and if your work takes you out of your home, make sure you wear your mask. Limit your contact with people you don’t live with. I know it’s tiring, but we’re in a crisis and this is what we have to do.”

There are a record 1,192 COVID-19 patients currently being treated in Wisconsin hospitals, with 315 of them in intensive care.
