WI Unemployment Rate Drops

Wisconsin’s unemployment picture is improving. The Department of Workforce Development says Wisconsin’s unemployment rate for September fell to 5.4%. That is down from 6.3% in August. The September numbers are below the national average, but are still about 2 points higher than a year ago. The national rate for September was 7.9%. It was also reported that Wisconsin added 13,700 private-sector jobs in September. While the jobless rate is better, D-W-D says Wisconsin still has about 180-thousand fewer private-sector jobs compared to this time last year.
