WIAA Individual Wrestling Sectionals – 2/22/2020

Top Two Wrestlers in D-1 Qualify for State, Top Three Wrestlers in D2 and D3. 

High School Wrestling – WIAA Sectionals: 

Division One Sectional at Oshkosh North HS: 

The Fond du Lac Cardinals are sending two wrestlers to the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament in Madison – as Isaac Ortegon (145 pounds) and Josiah Streblow (160 pounds) win the Sectional Championship in their respective weight class. 

Ortegon defeated Drake Hayward of Neenah in a 10-4 decision in the 145 pound title match, while Streblow won over Crosby Schlosser from West Bend East by an 11-7 decision in the 1st place match at 160 pounds. 

Division Two Sectional at Lomira HS: 

North Fond du Lac/St. Mary’s Springs will send all four of their sectional qualifiers to the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament. Marcus Orlandoni was the lone Sectional Champion for the Oriole/Ledger team, winning the title at 220 pounds. Andrew Forsythe (152 pounds), Lane Fritch (182 pounds) and Avery Hull (285 pounds) all took second place in their weight class. 

Forsythe won by no contest in the second place match at 152, defeating Steven Johnson of Lake Country Lutheran 22-8. 

Fritch won by a pin in 1:02 in the second place match at 182, defeating Kaiden Mikalowsky of Chilton/Hilbert

Orlandoni won by a pin in 4:00 in the title match at 220, defeating Kyle DIetzen of Omro

Hull won by no contest in the second place match at 285, defeating Sam Bautz of Catholic Memorial 24-4.

Lomira will send three wrestlers to state – with Abe Helsell placing 2nd at 195 pounds and Alex Gundrum (138 pounds) and Adam Sauer (145 pounds) each placing third. 

Gundrum fell in the second place match to Maverik Ott of Chilton/Hilbert, while Sauer was defeated by Braeden Scoles of Kewaskum in the 2nd place match at 145. Helsell won over Jacob Peacy of Port Washington in the 2nd place match at 195.

Campbellsport will send two wrestlers to state – with Drake Muellenbach taking second place at 113 pounds and Roman Skorupa taking second place at 126 pounds. 

Muellenbach defeated Brodie Breckie of Port Washington in the 2nd place match at 113 pounds, while Skorupa defeated Kaiden Schumacher of Port Washington in the 2nd place match at 126.

Chilton/Hilbert will send five wrestlers to state – with Joe Boehnlein (126 pounds) and Trent Breckheimer (170 pounds) each winning the Sectional Championship in their respective weight class. 

Chilton/Hilbert also got a second place finish from Maverik Ott (138 pounds) and third place finishes from Gaven Lisowe (160 pounds) and Kaiden Mikalowsky (182 pounds). 

Boehnlein won by fall over Roman Skorupa from Campbellsport in the first place match at 126. Ott defeated Alex Gundrum of Lomira in the 2nd place match at 138. Lisowe lost to Preston Morgan of Berlin in the 2nd place match at 160. Breckheimer defeated Brady Wagner of Berlin in the 1st place match at 170, and Mikalowsky lost to Lane Fritch of North Fond du Lac/St. Mary’s Springs in the 2nd place match at 182 pounds.

Kewaskum will send two wrestlers to State – after Braden Maertz won the Sectional Championship at 152 pounds and Braeden Scoles took second place at 145 pounds. 

Maertz defeated Andrew Forsythe of North Fond du Lac/St. Mary’s Springs in the title match at 152 pounds. Scoles defeated Adam Sauer of Lomira in the second place match at 145 pounds.

Kiel will send three wrestlers to State – after Joah Lund won the Sectional Championship at 132 pounds, Andrew Schad took second place at 120 pounds, and Jason Klauck took third at 220 pounds. 

Schad defeated Devin Gore of Plymouth in the second place match at 120 pounds. Lund defeated Logan Flanigan of Catholic Memorial in the first place match at 132, and Klauck lost to Kyle Dietzen of Omro in the second place match at 220 pounds

Waupun will send one wrestler to State – as Easton Hull won the Sectional Championship at 113 pounds. Hull defeated Drake Muellenbach of Campbellsport to win the title at 113 pounds. 

Division Three Sectional – at Dodgeland HS: 

Laconia will send one wrestler to state – as Tyler Lovejoy won the Sectional Championship at 160 pounds. Lovejoy defeated Andrew Benzing of Dodgeland in the title match at 160 to advance to State.
