WIAA Releases Boys & Girls Hockey Tournament Brackets
It’s almost playoff time for Boys and Girls Hockey teams in Wisconsin, and the WIAA has released the pairings and brackets for the 2021 Boys and Girls Hockey tournaments ahead of the start of the postseason.
73 boys teams and 24 girls teams will compete in the tournament series, with boys regional play beginning February 2nd and girls regional play starting February 4th and 5th. The State championship games will be played February 20th at the South Wood County Recreation Center in Wisconsin Rapids.
Fond du Lac area teams and their seeds include:
Division 1:
The Fond du Lac Cardinals earned a #7 seed and will host #10 seed Oshkosh in an opening round regional game on February 2nd. The winner will advance to play #2-seed Neenah/Hortonville/Menasha on February 4th or 5th.
Division 2:
#1-seed St. Mary’s Springs received a first-round bye and will begin their state title defense Tuesday, February 9th at the Blue Line in Fond du Lac against the winner of the opening round regional game between Waupun and Cedarburg. #5 seed Waupun will play at #4 seed Cedarburg in that game on February 4th.
Girls Hockey:
The Fond du Lac Warbirds will open as a #4 seed and will host #5 seed Brookfield in an opening round regional game on February 5th at the Blue Line in Fond du Lac. The winner will advance to play top-seed University School of Milwaukee on February 9th.
