Winnebago County Law Enforcement And State Patrol Chase Wrong Way Driver Into Fond du Lac County

THIS STORY HAS BEEN UPDATED AFTER RECEIVING INFORMATION FROM WINNEBAGO COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

Around 11 PM Monday, October 3, 2022, the City of Oshkosh Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol chased a vehicle that was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 41.

Shortly before 11, the Winnebago County Communications Center started receiving calls of the wrong way driver north of the city of Oshkosh.

Law enforcement located the vehicle near Hwy 76 and started the pursuit.

While the pursuit was occurring, the Communications Center took a call from a female that stated she was in the car being pursued and she was being held against her will. A
claim that heightened the need to stop the vehicle by officers.

The claim of being kidnapped was proven to be false as officers got close enough to the car to see there was only one person in the vehicle. A female driver.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office got involved as the pursuit headed into Fond du Lac County at speeds between 70-80 miles per hour.

A Fond du Lac County officer deployed stop sticks near Highway N and the vehicle being chased struck them and soon came to a stop on 41 between Townline Road and County Highway OO.

The 27 year old female from Milwaukee was taken into custody and transported to a local health care facility to be evaluated for a possible mental disability issue.

No one was injured in the chase which lasted 19 miles between the 2 counties.
