Winnebago County Sheriff Squad Hit By Inattentive Driver
Winnebago County Sheriff’s officials posted a pretty effective dash cam video on its Facebook and Twitter pages showing what happens when you don’t pay attention while driving. A squad car was parked in the center lane of I-41 southbound early Monday morning, just south of Highway 26. There were traffic cones behind it closing off the left lanes and two squads ahead in those lanes with lights flashing. A car coming up on the unmanned squad’s right struck it causing significant damage. No one was seriously hurt, but as Sheriff’s officials note slowing down to 55 was not sufficient in this case. The other driver was not impaired.
