Winnebago County Shooting

Winnebago County Sheriff’s investigators say it appears a 29-year-old Pickett man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a residence on County Highway N Monday morning. Luke Smith died at the scene. His 36-year-old girlfriend was also shot and was taken to a local hospital where she is recovering from surgery. The two were found in the detached garage of the home. Three dogs were also shot and killed. Sheriff’s officials says the public isn’t in danger the incident was restricted to the scene.

Winnebago County Sheriff’s officials say one person is dead and another was injured during a shooting in the Town of Utica Monday morning. It happened in the 5200 block of County Highway N. A neighbor heard several gunshots and reported the incident shortly after 7 a.m. A 36-year-old woman and 29-year-old man were found at the residence. One was dead and the other was taken to a hospital. The victims were the couple who lived in the home. Deputies also found three recently deceased dogs.
