Winter Storm Causes Driving Issues, Including Hit And Run On Hwy. 175 South Of Fond du Lac

Another round of winter storms dropped a couple more inches of wet, heavy snow in the Fond du Lac area Tuesday afternoon and continued into the evening. The snow, coupled with temperatures hovering near freezing, made for challenging road conditions.

Numerous spin outs were reported by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, along with a number of vehicles ending up in ditches all over the county. The first calls to the County Dispatch Center started shortly after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (12/28/2021) and continued until about 8:00 p.m.

There appeared to be no serious injuries reported as a result of the accidents, although there was one hit-and-run incident reported.

A 26-year old female notified the Sheriff’s Department that she was on Hwy. 175, south of Fond du Lac, near Church Rd., when she was struck by another vehicle. The female said the suspect vehicle appeared to be dark in color, and was either a Chrysler 300 or Dodge Avenger type of vehicle. The vehicle would have driver’s side damage.

The suspect vehicle had fled the scene, heading north on Hwy. 175 towards Fond du Lac.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the FDL County Sheriff’s Department.
