Wisconsin Plans to Collect Online Sales Taxes

It may be getting more expensive to shop online in Wisconsin – as the Department of Revenue announces plans to begin collecting online sales taxes from retailers. The regulation applies to online retailers that do not have a physical presence in Wisconsin. The tax collection is expected to bring in about $120 million per year, meaning Wisconsinites would see an estimated $52 reduction in their income taxes. Similar laws are going into effect in nine other states in the coming months. Thirty-two states have already passed similar regulations.
