Wisconsin Sees Dip in Deer License Sales

Wisconsin hunters purchased slightly fewer
deer licenses heading into opening day of the nine-day gun deer season.

The
season kicked off on Saturday – and the DNR reports that hunters purchased
774,332 deer licenses as of midnight Friday, which is down 2.5 percent from
2017. That includes bow licenses, mentored hunt licenses, and conservation
patron licenses.

Gun-only licenses were much lower – with about 46,000 less
sold this year than in 2017. The DNR plans to release preliminary opening
weekend harvest totals today.
