>>NFL Off-Season Workout Program Goes Virtual

(New York, NY)  — The league and the N-F-L Players Association have agreed on plans for the off-season workout program to go virtual. Just like with this month’s annual draft, teams will need to prepare, coordinate and execute a nine-week program with up to 90 players, all online. Eighteen Green Bay Packers have off-season workout bonuses as a part of their contracts. The bonuses range from 15 thousand dollars for defensive lineman Montravius Adams to 750 thousand dollars for outside linebacker Za’Darius Smith. Preston Smith is in line for a 650-thousand-dollar bonus and Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, David Bakhtiari and Adrian Amos get bonuses of a half-million.

>>Report:  NBA Works On 25-Day Plan For Resumption Of Season

(Bristol, CT)  — Nothing is written in stone, but the N-B-A reportedly has worked up a 25-day plan for the resumption of the interrupted season.  Players were worried about returning to action without being in proper shape – and the possibility that would lead to injuries. When the league gives the go-ahead, there will be an 11-day series of individual workouts, including social distancing, then after clearance is received, five-on-five basketball as part of a 14-day training camp.  It’s been more than a month since the Milwaukee Bucks lost to the Denver Nuggets 109-95 on March 9th. If the N-B-A tries to resume its season May 1st, it would still be Memorial Day before an official game could be played.

>>Canceling Sports Camps, Keeping Campus Closed, Hinders UW Recruiting

(Madison, WI)  — It could be worse, but canceling sports camps and keeping the Madison campus closed is a setback for U-W recruiting.  Basketball coach Greg Gard acknowledges the University of Wisconsin won’t be bringing 300 high school players to the sports camps where they could be evaluated. Gard already has a six-player 2020 class which is highly-regarded and ready to arrive later this year. Football head coach Paul Chryst has nine known commitments for the 2021 class, but the program has a history of picking up valuable recruits between late May and the end of August.  The coronavirus impact on the football program can’t be measured yet.

>>Wisconsin Conservation Congress Goes Online

(Madison, WI)  — The Wisconsin Conservation Congress is holding its annual spring meeting online tonight (Tuesday) at 7:00 p-m.  Wisconsin outdoor enthusiasts will discuss ideas like extending the nine-day gun season to 19 days, eliminating the December antlerless-only season, eliminating management zones and limiting the crossbow season to October. The link to the video of the meeting is on the Department of Natural Resources’ website.  It will stay there for 72 hours so everyone has a chance to view the discussion.

>>Handrails To Be Added To Camp Randall Stadium

(Madison, WI)  — U-W Athletics has announced that handrails will be added inside Camp Randall Stadium.  It’s not a new idea – fans have been asking for the addition. School officials say the work will be finished before the start of the 2020 season. Some railings were added to a few locations inside the stadium before last season. Plans for the south end zone include new handrails as part of the coming renovation work.
