Wisconsin to play Wake Forest in the “Duke’s Mayo Bowl”; Four Other B1G Teams Accept Bowl Invites

The Wisconsin Badgers will go bowling for the 19th-consecutive season, after accepting an invitation to the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. Wisconsin will face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the December 30th game at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Badgers finished the season at 3-3 after claiming Paul Bunyan’s Axe for the 2nd straight year with a 20-17 overtime victory over Minnesota on Saturday. The Demon Deacons finished 4-4 on the season in the ACC, and enter the bowl matchup with Wisconsin on a two game losing streak. Two of Wake’s final four regular season contests – at Duke and vs. Florida State at home – were cancelled.

Wisconsin and Wake Forest have never played in football. Wisconsin is 9-9-1 all-time against teams currently in the ACC, including 4-1 in bowl games. Their last meeting with an ACC team was the 2018 Pinstripe Bowl, where the Badgers defeated Miami (FL) 35-3.

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl kicks off at 11 AM (central) on December 30th, and the game will be televised by ESPN.

In case you’re wondering – the bowl game is sponsored by Duke’s Mayonnaise – a brand of Mayo owned by the C.F. Sauer Company, based in Richmond, Virginia. The bowl had previously been known as the “Belk Bowl” since 2011.
