WLA No Longer Interested In McDermott Park Lease

Winnebago Lutheran Academy has decided to discontinue negotiations with the City of Fond du Lac over the leasing of land in McDermott Park. The school wanted to build two softball diamonds and a new parking lot, leasing the land at no cost from the City for 50 years. Public Works Director Jordan Skiff says new information about the diamonds being located in a flood plain was substantial. WLA Director of Communications and Mission Advancement John Boggs says their Governing Board met Monday night and their decision and the WLA group as a whole was to discontinue negotiations. He says they are taking a step back and will reassess. He says God has blessed them with 91 years in Fond du Lac and 61 years at their Merrill Avenue location.  WLA Principal Dave Schroeder informed Skiff and City Manager Joe Moore by email of the school’s decision.
