Woman Rescued From Cliffside In Door County

A 32-year-old woman had to be rescued Saturday Evening after she fell down a cliff at Peninsula State Park in Door County.

Fire fighters with the Gibraltar Fire Department estimate the woman fell 40-50 feet from the top of eagle bluff.

First responders arrived around 5:30 p.m. and treated her for head, neck and back trauma.

A Mutual Aid Box Alarm was requested, which brought in mutual aid from departments throughout the county to help.

Officials say the rough and unstable ground the woman was on as well as the loss of daylight made the rescue even more difficult.

The incident marks the first time in four years that Gibraltar Fire & Rescue department had to use their rope system to perform a rescue.

Rescue crews got the woman to an ambulance shortly after 8:30 pm.

She was then transported to the local airport where a medical helicopter was waiting and she was flown to a nearby trauma center with non life threatening injuries.
