Workers And Residents Of Nursing Homes, Long-Term Care Facilities Next Up For Vaccines In County

The timeline is coming into focus for how the coronavirus vaccine is going to be administered in Fond du Lac County, after the first doses were given this week at Agnesian/SSM Health.

Also included in this first round of doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be both workers and residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities, and Fond du Lac County Executive Allen Buechel says “vaccination day” for those people may be coming very soon.

The vaccine has been scheduled for the nursing homes long-term care facilities, which include assisted living and those types of things, for staff and residents, between the 17th and the 30th of December, so we are expecting that CVS/Caremark to be contacting us to say they are ready to do the inoculation of the vaccine and to have our employees are ready and then they will also take care of the residents of the nursing homes.”

Next in line for getting the vaccine is expected to be first responders, like police, fire and EMT’s – with the vaccine available to the general public by late spring or early summer.
