Worthington Named FDL Area Association Of Commerce VP

The Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce is proud to announce and welcome Melissa Worthington as the Association’s Vice President.

“I am honored and excited about being selected as the Vice President for the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce,” said Worthington.  “I will be joining an effective organization that plays a critical role in the advancement of the Fond du Lac community.  I am eager to get started working with the board, volunteers and staff to promote business and the community.”

As Vice President, Worthington will assist in the direction of all aspects of the Association and will produce and administer the program of work for Project Forward Fond du Lac – a division of the Association of Commerce which addresses issues impacting workforce development, attraction and retention in the Fond du Lac community.

“Melissa brings with her over 15 years of experience and success in the fields of marketing, leadership and strategic advancement,” stated Joe Reitemeier, President and CEO of the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce. “We are pleased to welcome her and to begin building upon the success this Association has already experienced.”

Worthington previously served as Director of Marketing and Communications at Moraine Park Technical College where she developed and managed numerous strategic plans and development initiatives.  Her expertise in creative services, public relations, social media, marketing, advertising and recruitment added significantly to institutional growth and advancement.

Prior to Moraine Park, Worthington was the Great Lakes Regional Marketing and Development Director for the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA), where she developed a strategic approach to funding and led the national organization in positive field financial growth.  During her successful tenure at HDSA, Worthington directed 20+ annual fundraising initiatives, led the coordination of multiple volunteer state board of directors and managed the complete spectrum of marketing, advertising and publicity initiatives. Additionally, she was instrumental in increasing annual revenues and was awarded eight individual chapter awards by the national office for exemplary work in fundraising, board development and chapter marketing creation.

Worthington also comes to the Association of Commerce with an extensive background in tourism-related marketing, economic research, project management and advocacy. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication as well as Politics and Government from Ripon College and received a Master’s degree in Speech Communication from Colorado State University.

Worthington will begin working at the Association of Commerce on June 30, 2014.
